Software Release Notes

Windows Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres

Advanced Edition(64bit) 18

Trial Version 

 

This document lists special cautions and reference information relating to the use of this product.

Notes on using the trial version of this product have been added to the Software Release Notes in the [Important] section below.

[Important]

The Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Advanced Edition(64bit) 18 trial version (hereinafter referred to as "the trial version") can be used to evaluate the licensed version.

The usage period for the program included in the trial version (hereinafter referred to as "the Program") is limited to 90 days after installation. You will not be able to use the Program beyond this period. When the trial period has expired, uninstall the trial version.

If unable to start an instance using WebAdmin or the pg_ctl command, execute the pg_ctl command as follows and refer to the generated log file to check if the trial period has expired:

pg_ctl start -w -D <data dir> -l <log file>

As the Program is used for evaluation purposes, Fujitsu Limited (hereinafter referred to as "Fujitsu") does not guarantee any operations relating to the Program. Moreover, even if the Program proves to be defective, Fujitsu has no obligation to perform related modifications or other maintenance work.

Fujitsu does not guarantee the results and deliverables generated by the Program. Moreover, Fujitsu does not assume any responsibility, regardless of the legal basis, for any damages caused, including damages caused directly or indirectly to a third party, as a result of using the Program. Therefore, you may not make any claim against Fujitsu in relation to such damages.

You may not modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Program.

In the trial version, the following items are different from the licensed version:

1.  How to install

Install Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres from the downloaded file of the trial version. For the trial version, when installing the server product, install the client product at the same time. 

The following explains how to perform the installation in interactive mode:

Extract the downloaded file, and execute the following:

ep-postgresae-win-x64-1800-1\autorun.exe

In the displayed window, click [Installation].

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the remaining steps.

Refer to "Installation in Interactive Mode" in the Installation and Setup Guide for Server (Windows version) for information on installing the product.

To view the Installation and Setup Guide for Server (Windows version), execute the file autorun.exe mentioned above and in the displayed window, click [Installation and Setup Guide].

 

[High Risk Activity]

The Customer acknowledges and agrees that the Product is designed, developed and manufactured as contemplated for general use, including without limitation, general office use, personal use, household use, and  ordinary industrial use, but is not designed, developed and manufactured as contemplated for use accompanying fatal risks or dangers that, unless extremely high safety is secured, could lead directly to death, personal injury, severe physical damage or other loss (hereinafter "High Safety Required Use"), including without limitation, nuclear reaction control in nuclear facilities, aircraft flight control, air traffic control, mass transport control, medical life support systems, and missile launch control in weapon systems. The Customer, shall not use the Product without securing the sufficient safety required for the High Safety Required Use. In addition, Fujitsu (or other affiliate's name) shall not be liable against the Customer and/or any third party for any claims or damages arising in connection with the High Safety Required Use of the Product.

Exportation/release of this document may require necessary procedures in accordance with the regulations of your resident country and/or US export control laws.

2 Applicable Manuals

2.1 Manuals

The manuals listed in the table below are included on the "Server program/Online manuals" DVD. You can read the manuals directly from the DVD or copy them to your computer. If you copy them to your computer, do not change the folder structure or file names because this can affect the correctness of how the manual is displayed and the accuracy of the PDF search function.

Note that Adobe(R) Reader(R) is required in order to read and search manuals in PDF format.

Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres manuals contain various notation conventions and rules.

When using Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres manuals, keep these rules in mind as you read them.

5 Restrictions

6. Notes on Migration

If an existing 9.4 or newer instance is going to be used in this version, perform pg_upgrade in advance. Refer to "Notes on Upgrading Database Instances" in the Operation Guide for details. Refer to "pg_upgrade" in the PostgreSQL Documentation for information on using pg_upgrade.

7. Other Notes

It is not allowed to use this software in the case that the Windows(R) system locale setting "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" is enabled.

8 Installation Procedure

8.1 Installation Method

8.2 Uninstallation Method

 For information on uninstalling this software, refer to the following chapter in the Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Installation and Setup Guide for Server in the online manuals:

9 Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Client

This software includes Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Client for the platforms listed below. If an application is used in a remote environment, install Fujitsu Enterprise Postgres Client for each platform.

10. About streaming replication

Use streaming replication only with features compatible withPostgreSQL 18.

Appendix A License Terms and Exclusions of Liability

A.1. License for Open Source Software

This product uses the open-source software. Refer to OSS_Licence/OSS_List.pdf in this media for the name, version and license conditions of the open source software included in this product. After providing this product and this media, the OSS version and license conditions may change due to the provision of the correction program. Refer to the following folder for the changed OSS version and license conditions.

It is allowable to choose a license from one of the following for jQuery and jQuery UI Library; MIT License or GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE (GNU GPL). This product redistributes jQuery and jQuery UI Library based on the MIT License.

The ecj is covered by the Eclipse Public License. We will provide, on request, the source code for software for which source code disclosure is a license requirement. If you require this source code, please contact our sales staff.

The jstl is covered by the COMMON DEVELOPMENT AND DISTRIBUTION LICENSE (CDDL). We will provide, on request, the source code for CDDL target software and for software for which source code disclosure is a license requirement.

Will Hartung - getline is license-free open source software available in the public domain.

Modification and reverse engineering are permissible for the following programs included in this product to the extent permitted under the GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 3.0, GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2.1 and GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 2, which are applied to the open source software used together with this product.

We choose the "Apache License, Version 2.0" license for using log4cplus and Java Native Access (JNA).

This product includes the software that are covered by Boost Software License.

We choose the "Boost Software License 1.0 Copyright (c) 2006-2017, CRYPTOGAMS by <appro@openssl.org>" license for using Cryptopp.
